NNAS Night Owl
Master the art of night navigation and gain confidence after dark!
Have you ever been caught out on a walk as night falls? Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to try night walking but lacked the confidence? The NNAS Night Owl award is designed just for you!
This four-hour course will equip you with essential navigation skills to explore and enjoy the outdoors safely after dark. You’ll learn how to adjust your pacing and timing for nighttime conditions, use relocation techniques when visibility is low, and apply navigation strategies to stay on course.
What to Expect
• Led by experienced outdoor instructors approved by the NNAS
• Held in open areas like parks or heathlands with minimal obstacles
• At least two hours of training in darkness
• A mix of practical exercises and hands-on learning
Who Can Join?
To get the most from this course, you should have some experience with daytime navigation (such as ODA Level 2 or NNAS Bronze Navigator).
